VERSKUILING & VERSKULDIGING
Artist statement
The past two years of escaping creative boundaries and rewriting narratives has not only shaped me as a student, but as an artist. Developing visual diaries or creating a new take on old art styles - never before did I think that creating so many mind-maps would be so endearing. I feel especially drawn - ha, ha - to creating a multi-tiered, multi-media story that approaches avant-garde techniques.

MANIFESTO
CRDE5119
This manifesto was created during the initial phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, many of my core values that I try to live by have slightly adjusted or altered. I've finalised these 8 points as the most significant.
1.
Be gracious and humble at all times.
2.
You never fully know what anyone brings to the table, so tread lightly in unknown conversation.
3.
Never beg or settle when you know that you deserve better. It is a privilege to be known as your most authentic self.
4.
In addition to previous point: always check your privilege.
5.
Not everything is as terrible as it seems in the moment.
6.
Do not waste a droplet of happiness, especially sacrificing your happiness for others.
7.
Read books, and the room.
8.
Fight for what you believe in.

WHO AM I
My name is Sabah Cabano, student number 19338439. I enjoy using multi-media methods of design and Creative Development that illustrate personal themes. I enjoy using deeply emotive colours, compositions, and multimedia. Personally, I struggle to push the boundaries with digital and hand-drawn media. This is why the Creative Development process over the past two years has been exceptionally impactful. Visuals can not only be thought-provoking, but prickle emotions, too. My personal aesthetic is eclectic; an amalgamation of classic art, hand-drawn sketches, vibrance, monotones, words, or imagery. By combining all these facets, I found a melancholic form of beauty within.
I found that multiple theory components were applicable to themes beyond Creative Development studies. Tonal value is not only erratic and in shading; it is in placements and structure. Using the random technique and mind-mapping tools helped compartmentalise many concepts and ideas into bite-sized chunks.
SYMBOL & CONCEPT
For this summative and final project, I created an image that morbidly depicts how life and all creations are intrinsically connected. There is always an essence, that manifests in carbon. Eventually, we all resort back to this. Carbon fuels our oxygen and our soils, but is also what our purest physical component is derived from.
