RATIONALE & REFLECTION

My manifesto is wholly based off of what I stand for as a human being. I have been involved in many victories and failures in my short life, that led me to decide what it is that makes living worthwhile.
The reason for my depiction of these tasks is the fact that my creative outlets manifest in this form. I am a person that prefers very scattered, seemingly incongruent messages in means of creativity as I do not particularly enjoy the construct of “art”. I prefer inciting n image or sculpting something that is given, into something more. This is fashioned in the way of writing narratively and vividly describing a landscape, emotion, or person.
The necessity of being a social activist, in my eyes, is to be able to objectively protest what one feels and experiences. The protests that I have attended, for example, were peaceful of nature. The Climate Strike protest on the 15th of March
2019 made an impact in many people’s lives. The message we protested, was to change the country’s stance on climate change and the laws regarding this. Later on in the same year, I attended the protests of the rising gender-based violence issue that hit close to home when one of my schoolmates disappeared during this time.
The creative decision I made with writing and photographic editing is my outlet of expression, especially during this extraordinary times. Writing in prose or poetry has always been a hobby of mine, but once I enrolled in a writing competition, my poetic license became more severe and serious. I wrote my prelims English essay paper on the protests of femicide, which proceeded to attain 100%. This encouraged me to use my way with words to convey important messages and not just fluff pieces.

IDENTITY

This is a process mind-map from first semester in first year. A definition and direction for my Task 1 submission was formulated through this.

Reflecting back of my Task 1 submission, I recognise that belief systems are not always concrete. An essential part of being is being uncertain, as well as confused. These pivotal emotions and mental processes deeply impact the way one can grow.

Not only did my manifesto and Task 1 submission give me a blueprint to what I want to be, but it gave me freedom to have the choice to change. There isn't much that is permanently binding within my manifesto. The flaws that I struggled with, ended up becoming character definition. Multiple events shaped my attitudes and responsiveness to future events - including non-events.
